"Handing this project over to someone else, while necessary, wasn't easy. I needed someone gentle, with an authentic appreciation for my goals, to take the reins. And Ted brings that, and more! I am learning a lot from our collaboration, and I'm so grateful he could work on Warmly, Iowa."
Ted Cragg guest appearances image

As the Producer of the Destination Morocco podcast, I make frequent guest appearances to introduce certain episodes, host discussions and moderate live Q&A sessions.

This live Q&A was an overview of food and cuisine specific to Morocco, where I was host and moderator, while podcast host Azdean Elmoustaquim and co-host Sam Ouaouirra explained the various dishes, ingredients, how to order and more.

Moderating these live sessions involves hosting the event, asking questions and keeping us focused and on time, while simultaneously sharing the screen, monitoring volume levels, adjusting titles and overlays and monitoring the chat. Thanks to platforms like StreamYard, I can be well-prepared ahead of time to then juggle these multiple roles with ease.

I met Christine at Camp Indie in 2023, and was delighted to discover her podcast, “Everyday Badassery,” which highlights people, largely in the travel sphere, who have taken bold steps with their lives and strive to continue improving a little bit every day.

We chatted about the power of podcasting, how to get started and how to measure “success” and impact in podcast terms. It’s a much different mindset than with your typical social media/YouTube likes, shares and views.

I also share a bit of my story and thoughts on music, performing, MCing events as an introvert, and if I am a badass myself…

James Hammond is the host of Winging It, a travel podcast with, as of mid-2024, over 250 episodes since starting in early 2021. James was a guest on my travel show, Travel Podcast the World, where I interviewed him about travel podcasting, and then I was initially a guest on his show in mid-2022, sharing some of my travel stories.

However, in August of 2023 James and his partner Emma were on a cross-Canada road trip, and we arranged for them to stay with us for a night, in our little village halfway between Montreal and Quebec City.

Which gave James and I the chance to podcast in person! We recorded this episode in my home studio, no internet required! James and I chat about travel post-covid, in their case going through Europe and into Asia, and in our case 3 months in Portugal, Morocco and France, but from a family travel perspective.

We spent 10 days in Morocco, in February 2023, and an absolute highlight was the coastal city of Eassaouira, southwest of Casablanca and about a 3 hour drive west of Marrakech.

We had a local guide, Zaid, who took us through the narrow alleys of the medina, along the ramparts of the old city walls, and past the little fishing boats in the protected harbour. It was a chance to capture an experience live and on-location, so I had my recording device out and documented the tour.

In this episode you’ll hear street music, waves crashing, seagulls hunting for scraps, footsteps down quiet alleys and traders selling their wares. Zaid share history and perspective on how Essaouira became a particularly safe, welcoming and pluralistic haven for multiple religions and languages, all living side by side.

This live tour is a great example of the power and drama of travel audio, where you can close your eyes and be swept away to the moment, your imagination mixing with the real, authentic sounds and atmosphere in your ears.

Travel Podcast producer Ted Cragg steps out from his home studio in Canada to embark on his own great adventure, spending 3 months, primarily in Portugal, slow travelling with his wife Emilie and their two young kids, 5 and 7 years old.

It’s been 11 years since the end of their last great trip (pre-kids, of course!), a ’round-the-world odyssey over 15 months. Since then, travel for them has been limited, and slow travel nonexistent.

However, 2023 suddenly represented an opportunity to reconnect with that life. They decided to seize the moment and pick up where they left off, 11 years later.

This podcast documents the daily experience of travel as a family in 2023. Practical info for parents, travel tips for Portugal and beyond, and observations and reflections on travel, and how it has changed and evolved.
